AW: [suse-laptop] SuSE 8.0 root-login
Die Einstellung im KDE für Root werden nicht gespeichert. Ich bin auch darüber gestolpert. Es ist SuSE-Philosophie, nach der der Root möglichst nicht unter KDE arbeiten soll. Entweder man gewöhnt sich daran oder man folgt dem Tipp auf http://sdb.suse.de/de/sdb/html/thallma_rootkde_80.html Danach musste ich allerdings die komplette Start- und Systemleiste unten neu einrichten, weil einige Einstellungen "im Eimer" waren. Das ist nicht SuSE-Philosophie, sondern ganz allgemeine UNIX-Philosophie. Ein UNIX-Systemadministrator arbeitet unter seinem ganz normalen User-Account und wird, wenn er mal root-Rechte braucht, in _einem_ Fenster für kurze Zeit root. Nicht auf Dauer, und schon gar nicht auf dem ganzen Desktop. Als root eine grafische Oberfläche zu starten bedeutet einen _erheblichen_ Sicherheitsverlust. Und das Fehlen der Möglichkeit, in einem einzelnen Fenster Administrator zu werden ist einer der Gründe, warum aus Redmond nur sogenannte Betriebssysteme kommen und keine wirklichen. -- Eckhard Rüggeberg E.Rueggeberg@t-online.de - Who is General Failure, and why is he reading my disk ??
