SuSe 10.0 and HP nc6220 problems,
Hello, I've persuaded my son who has been using SuSE on his pc for quite some time, to give SuSE 10.0 a try on his new HP nc6220 laptop. I must say that I feel rather embarrassed about my suggestion, as he's having serious problems with SuSE 10 on his machine: rebooting is only possible with the option pci=noacpi and reboot=b in grub's menu.lst file, ACPI isn't working properly: thermal control is flaky, suspend to disk works does work, but resume does not battery monitor isn't working wireless connection doesn't work (IntelPro2200) sound does'nt work properly: no sound or only very loud with no way of controlng volume level the laptop's keys that control sound volume aren't working either As it stands, the machine is hardly useable as a laptop and I would really appreciate if any members of this group have had similar problems with their HP laptop. I don't know whether or not it's the hardware that's responsible for these problems or that this particular version of SuSE is to blame. Whatever the case, any suggestions are very welcome. Although my German has become somewhat rusty, I can still read it quite well, so don't hesitate to reply in German if that's more convernient. May thanks, gert ormel gert_ormel@yahoo.co.uk
