Hello *, does anyone got the infrared port on Tecra 8000 up and running? I am running SuSE 8.1 and followed all the instructions given. Are there any special tricks I need to know? Infrared ports should show up like normal serial ports like this. ~> dmesg |grep tty ttyS00 at 0x03f8 (irq = 4) is a 16550A ttyS02 at 0x03e8 (irq = 4) is a 16550A ~> cat /proc/tty/driver/serial serinfo:1.0 driver:5.05c revision:2001-07-08 0: uart:16550A port:3F8 irq:4 baud:9600 tx:0 rx:0 CTS|DSR|CD|RI 2: uart:16550A port:3E8 irq:4 baud:9600 tx:0 rx:0 Port 0 (/dev/ttyS00) is the normal serial port. Port 2 (/dev/ttyS02) is the infrared port.
Cheers Ian

Hm ... this is what I get: ~> cat /proc/tty/driver/serial~> dmesg |grep tty ttyS00 at 0x03f8 (irq = 4) is a 16550A ttyS04 at port 0x4080 (irq = 11) is a 16550A ~> cat /proc/tty/driver/serial serinfo:1.0 driver:5.05c revision:2001-07-08 0: uart:16550A port:3F8 irq:4 baud:9600 tx:8 rx:0 4: uart:16550A port:4080 irq:11 baud:9600 tx:8 rx:0 CTS|DSR When I do a "rcirda start" I get only a "failed". Any idea on this? Cheers Ian

serinfo:1.0 driver:5.05c revision:2001-07-08 0: uart:16550A port:3F8 irq:4 baud:9600 tx:0 rx:0 CTS|DSR|CD|RI 2: uart:16550A port:3E8 irq:4 baud:9600 tx:0 rx:0
Port 0 (/dev/ttyS00) is the normal serial port. Port 2 (/dev/ttyS02) is the infrared port.

Have you set IRDA_PORT in /etc/sysconfig/irda correctly? Should probably point to /dev/ttyS4 in your case.
Cheers Ian
