Hi, I'd like to use a (programmable) remote control (like that you get at Radio Shack) in connection with the IrDA interface of my notebook, e.g. for presentations or simply to remotely control my DVD-ROM. Does anybody have experience which remote controls can be used and if there is software available for Linux which turns pressed keys on the remote into keypresses or actions within Linux/KDE? I would very much appreciate any answers. I'd like to use a (programmable) remote control (like that you get at Radio Shack) in connection with the IrDA interface of my notebook, This depends on the capabilities of the IrDA chip used in your notebook, see LiRC http://www.lirc.org/irda.html for details.
