Hi *, in meinen Designote3 Laptop (486DX4-100, 9.4"TFT) steckt nach Auskunft von Win95 eine Western Digital Grafikkarte mit 1MB. Es werden von Win keine speziellen Treiber verlangt und die Karte läuft bei 640x480 mit 16bit Farbtiefe. Jetzt habe ich SuSE 6.3 installiert und konnte leider mit den gängigen Tools (xf86config, XF86Setup, SAX) keine funktionierende XF86Config erstellen (obwohl XF86Setup mir zu einer gratulierte). Durch Zufall fand ich im Internet eine, die auch bei mir jetzt läuft. Leider bekomme ich die XF86Config nicht dazu, mir auch unter Linux die 16bit Farbtiefe anzuzeigen. Bei dem Befehl "startx -- -bpp 16" erhalte ich die Fehlermeldung "no screens found". Ich habe unten mal meine derzeite XF86Config und das Ergebnis der "Selbstfindung" X- showconfig angefügt. Hat jemand einen Tipp oder vielleicht eine bessere Methode den Grafikchip zu ermitteln (ausser auseinander bauen und "cat /proc/pci" (nicht vorhanden)) Grüße aus Kiel, Christian ******************************************************* die derzeitige XF86Config: (X -showconfig kommt danach) ------8<----schnipp---->8------- Section "Monitor" Identifier "Primary Monitor" VendorName "Unknown" ModelName "Unknown" HorizSync 35.4 VertRefresh 67.43 Modeline "640x480" 28.32 640 664 760 800 480 491 493 525 Modeline "320x240" 20.17 320 336 384 400 240 245 246 262 doublescan EndSection Section "Device" Identifier "Primary Card" VendorName "Unknown" BoardName "Paradise/WD 90CXX" Chipset "wd90c24" VideoRam 1024 Clocks 28.32 28.32 28.32 28.32 28.32 EndSection Section "Screen" Driver "Accel" Device "Primary Card" Monitor "Primary Monitor" SubSection "Display" Depth 8 Modes "640x480" "320x240" EndSubSection SubSection "Display" Depth 15 Modes "640x480" "320x240" EndSubSection SubSection "Display" Depth 16 Modes "640x480" "320x240" EndSubSection SubSection "Display" Depth 24 Modes "640x480" "320x240" EndSubSection SubSection "Display" Depth 32 Modes "640x480" "320x240" EndSubSection EndSection Section "Screen" Driver "Mono" Device "Primary Card" Monitor "Primary Monitor" SubSection "Display" Depth 1 Modes "640x480" "320x240" EndSubSection EndSection Section "Screen" Driver "VGA2" Device "Primary Card" Monitor "Primary Monitor" SubSection "Display" Depth 1 Modes "640x480" "320x240" EndSubSection EndSection Section "Screen" Driver "VGA16" Device "Primary Card" Monitor "Primary Monitor" SubSection "Display" Depth 4 Modes "640x480" "320x240" EndSubSection EndSection Section "Screen" Driver "SVGA" Device "Primary Card" Monitor "Primary Monitor" SubSection "Display" Depth 8 Modes "640x480" "320x240" EndSubSection SubSection "Display" Depth 15 Modes "640x480" "320x240" EndSubSection SubSection "Display" Depth 16 Modes "640x480" "320x240" EndSubSection SubSection "Display" Depth 24 Modes "640x480" "320x240" EndSubSection SubSection "Display" Depth 32 Modes "640x480" "320x240" EndSubSection EndSection ----ENDE---- ***************************************************+ das X -showconfig Ergebnis: root@patient:~ > X -showconfig XFree86 Version 3.3.5 / X Window System (protocol Version 11, revision 0, vendor release 6300) Release Date: August 23 1999 If the server is older than 6-12 months, or if your card is newer than the above date, look for a newer version before reporting problems.
