One annoying thing with the Suse kernel, which differentiates it badly from the others.. is that it is totally not compatible with cisco vpn.. I tried everything, even the latest vpn client which supports kernel 2.6.x but it wither freezes the machine, or the module loading gives sigmentation fault... Perhaps this is not the appropriate forum, but can anyone, especially u Stefan (I know of at least two persons who think ur a saint for telling us the trick to remove subfs module!) tell me what steps whould be taken to build the kernel from the vanilla source and still make it work with suse!!?? the last kernel IO compiled was probably version 2.2 on Redhat 7 or something, so its been a long time...
p.s. I tried Mantel kernel last week, still the same problems with cisco vpn...
Thanks, Adham
I have a business appointment, so I have to leave home soon. Later this afternoon/evening I shall have a look at my setup that was last tested with 2.6.x kernels up to the end of March, my last day of access to vpn. There was a problem that was introduced from one kernel update, it caused the module not to install and someone supplied a patch that fixed it. I never had anything as bad as a machine freeze using the cisco vpnclient. I shall send you everything I have in case it's helpful. Regards Sid. -- Sid Boyce ....
