[suse-mirror] Mirror - opensuse.mirror.aussiehq.net.au - scope
Hi All We've been looking at our recent mirror utilisation recently and have noticed that less than 25% of our usage is from Australia. This is a problem for us because international transit is significantly more expensive than internal transit/peering and has contributed to the operating costs of our mirror being more than budgeted. For this reason, is it possible to change the scope on our mirror (opensuse.mirror.aussiehq.net.au) so that only Australian and New Zealand users are automatically redirected to it? Other countries should be sent to their closest mirror. Thanks, Shaun -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: mirror+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: mirror+help@opensuse.org

i will look into this tomorrow. just wondering ... what other countries get send to your mirror? you should only get traffic from Australia and maybe Oceania. and of course we cant affect people who are adding your mirror directly. darix -- openSUSE - SUSE Linux is my linux openSUSE is good for you www.opensuse.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: mirror+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: mirror+help@opensuse.org

Thanks Marcus. We're seeing a fairly global distribution including parts of Asia such as China, Indonesia, Pakistan, etc. North and South America (eg: Mexico and Brazil), and Europe (Russia, Denmark, France, etc). I need to get some better stats running to drill down further, but we seem to have a fairly wide distribution. We're happy to continue serving Australia and Oceania but simply want to limit our global distribution for the time being. Our problem is the reverse: we have almost all flux from Brazil, but it's very small. We could contribute a lot more if you increased our weight and scope to South and North America. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: mirror+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: mirror+help@opensuse.org

your mirror is configured to only handle south america and you have the base score of 100. should i remove the "region only" flag? darix -- openSUSE - SUSE Linux is my linux openSUSE is good for you www.opensuse.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: mirror+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: mirror+help@opensuse.org

Yes, certainly. And you might increase the base score as well, to the same level of the maximum ones elsewhere. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: mirror+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: mirror+help@opensuse.org

I set the region only flag for your mirror. darix -- openSUSE - SUSE Linux is my linux openSUSE is good for you www.opensuse.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: mirror+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: mirror+help@opensuse.org
