[opensuse-marketing] openSUSE disks for LUGs in the UK
I'd like to start contacting UK LUGs with a view to sending each active LUG a number of openSUSE disks (and again after each release). If no-one else is doing this (if you are, please shout, so that we don't duplicate activities), and no-one has any objection, I'll start contacting the LUGs in the next few days. We had one request for disks from a LUG at LugRadio Live - I'll fulfil that request tomorrow. I'm doing this as an openSUSE volunteer, but as I'm also employed by Novell, that will help with logistics. -- ======================== Roger Whittaker roger@disruptive.org.uk http://disruptive.org.uk ======================== -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+help@opensuse.org

Thanks for the effort spreading openSUSE. :-) Do we have anyone from other countries that might help reach out to LUGs to spread DVDs? We can usually take care of shipping, though it might be easier to send a bulk order to one person and have them distribute from there. If you know of any LUGs that are looking for DVDs, you can also send them to the DVD order page that Martin announced last week. Note that we're intending to distribute DVDs for groups, not individuals -- we got a ton of requests for small numbers of DVDs (like, 3), which isn't the purpose of the system... I requested some DVDs to give on ENOS 2008 and GLUA (University of Aveiro LUG). I might contact others LUGs around and give them a bunch of DVDs, though most of them are Debian-based users. -- Regards, Carlos Goncalves -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+help@opensuse.org

Ping from Nicaragua =) I'm the green guy from here (everything that include opensuse means me ;) ) http://en.opensuse.org/User:Alexio44 I can be the "official" contact for distribution here at Central America I always do the copy / paste of the images .ISO of the released version of openSUSE here at my country, in different cities / lugs (Managa, Leon, Chinandega, Esteli, Carazo, Granada) I also keep contact with lugs in CentralAmerica (El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala)

I think that a lot of people thinks that the order page is like https://shipit.ubuntu.com/ The way to ask for your free Linux Ubuntu CD... (normaly they send 3 - 10 at most) How can opensuse make a difference here ? :s ----- I have just asked for 800 - 1000 promoDVDs We are doing like 2 meetings / events per month, usually openSUSE events, but sometimes they are IT events where we get invited to present the openSUSE project Even when the meetings are about another distribution (ubuntu/debian/fedora/mandriva) we make a space and promote the GREEN distribution :) Greetings -- Ing. Hi Zonker I'd be happy to be that point of contact in New Zealand. I'm doing presentations to Lugs NPOs and Schools all the time both on OOo and desktop Linux. I'd move a couple of hundred without any stress at all. The guys at Novell's Auckland office were kind enough to give me two boxes of the packaged SLED/SLES 10 DVDs when 10 was first released, I probably handed out more of those than any individual Novell employee. A few of the 11.0 packaged versions would go down well as well. I do presentations to groups of Seniors doing computer training programmes and they always ask for a a manual. Unfortunately there's no source for those locally.
