Those definitely imply authoritative positions, which this position certainly doesn't entail.

True, but you can be a leader without implying authority... sort of. For instance, if you were in a sales organization you could be a "sales leader" which implies you're someone to pay attention to and you're doing a good job, without necessarily saying that role has any management authority.
