[opensuse-marketing] openSUSE promo dvd iso (64 bit)
I've got one small question, is there a 64 bit image of promo dvd of openSUSE 11.1 ?? I mean the one that has live cd's in it. I have only 32 bit version of that dvd and i wonder if there is one 64 bit version? Nope. We may want to re-evaluate this for 11.2, I've noticed an uptick in requests for a 64-bit image, but our stats used to show that it was a very small percentage of users who were on 64-bit machines. However - anybody can install the 32-bit or run the 32-bit live CDs on 64-bit machines, the reverse isn't true - so it may be best to stick with 32-bit for the time being. If that's the case then maybe openSUSE project would consider using 64 bit kernel for 32 bit openSUSE? Are there any problems when implementing that? I've heard Fedora or Mandriva will be doing that. That would probably be a question best asked on -project or -factory. I don't know what would be involved there. I think we'd need to make a decision like that based on more than just the promo DVDs. :-) Best, Zonker -- Joe 'Zonker' Brockmeier <jzb@zonker.net> openSUSE Community Manager: http://zonker.opensuse.org Blogs: http://blogs.zdnet.com/community | http://www.dissociatedpress.net Twitter: jzb | Identica: jzb http://identi.ca/group/opensuse/members -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+help@opensuse.org
