[opensuse-marketing] www.opensuse-tutorials.com
This is something that sontek (John Anderson) and myself (decriptor/Stephen Shaw) had talked about doing for a long time and bought up the domain back in the beginning of April. This is what happens when you have nothing better to do during physics class :) Anyways, around here there are a couple guys, one that started ubuntu-tutorials.com which has been really successful for him and a fedora guy that followed suit and started fedora-tutorials.com. We figured it only fair to start opensuse-tutorials.com. We finally got around to updating our theme (wordpress; we aren't married to the theme and open to suggestions) and talking about what content we wanted up there. We were talking about some screencasts and tutorials in general, but wanted to have about 4 or so up there before we really announced it. Zonker mentioned that I should announce it on here and see where we could all work together. So here it is. So far sontek, suseROCKS, jzb, and myself(decriptor) are on there. tutorials localizated should be nice. I have 3 or 4 in my own language (pt_BR), but I could translate it to English so more people could re-translate to his/her own language if its supported in this new site. For now I have: *A little walkthrougt showing the installation using a LiveCD; *Another showing some partitions use case (using a existent linux partition, shrinking the windows partition and using all space) *Configuring the update and others repositories and let the installed LiveCD openSUSE speaks portuguese ;) (which Theses tutorials I made for newbies in mind at our pt_BR forum (http://www.susebr.org/forum) showing a first contact with openSUSE, with lots of screenshots... If you want create an account and then we can get them up there for 'review' ( let me know so i can change your status). As I mentioned earlier, I'm all for anyone contributing. We do already have a few admins. I'm excited. It will be nice to have a central point where all you will find are tutorials. I wonder if there is a way to maybe create static pages with translated versions? English on the main page. It would be kind of weird to have several of the same post in different languages on the same feed. I wonder if there might be value in having wordpress mu?

Plone has a feature where you can create static versions of an English page and then separate it to translations. It's the same system Novell uses for their web site. I think it looks great; I used to have a different Wordpress account and the interface options weren't nearly as nice as what you have laid out here. Is it Apache/PHP? cool. I might need help with that. How does it integrate? Does it have the ability to work with wordpres?

:) This is the latest version of wordpress from their site installed on one of my servers. The latest version has changed a lot. Its running on a XEN virtualized SLES 10 SP1 install. No idea, honestly. It's open-source Apache, so I can't imagine why it would have strong issues.

Then it should be fine. Don't quote me on this, but I'm pretty sure that our Plone servers are running on SLES 10 (no better place to test than on your own network, right?) http://plone.org/ has all of the documentation/information on the project. Not sure of the best way to do this. But maybe for now create an account so that way we can have the create author on it. Then let me know that you want to post. I think we might end up with several admins that can review and accept posts? Thoughts on this are welcome.
2. The language ? Only english ?
hadn't really thought a ton about this. But maybe yes and then we'll just tag things with the correct language tag? en, br, etc. and that way the can be filtered for planets, etc... Thanks for the feedback, Please let me know what you think.
