[opensuse-marketing] Video advertisment
To do something viral, I think it have to be easy to watch or read (video or lot of images, and not too long) and easy to transfer to other people. An approach can be a short video (2 minutes, no more), like a TV advertisement, that resumes the new features that come with the new openSUSE release, like the new installer, new GTK Yast software manager, KDE4 integration, compiz (of course) and something more. And all these with slogans and music. I think it can be more effective to take a first impression than a screencast, wiki docs or something else. The only problem I see is to do it with free tools. ¿Knows anyone software for Linux to do this? *PD*: Sorry for the response to the topic "openSUSE counter -1 on release day?" with this message! -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+help@opensuse.org

I haven't tried it myself, but I hear that some people have had success with recordmydesktop, if you want to do screencast type recording. If you want to edit video, I've heard good things about Kdenlive. Another possibility is Kino, though it doesn't seem to be packaged for openSUSE. I've used Kino a few versions ago - it isn't fancy, but it can get the job done if you're doing basic editing/production.
