[opensuse-marketing] Thinking about weekly news
Hi Team, I am just thinking about the localized news delivery to the communities in different country. IMHO the wiki is not the right way to spread some news, that's why the news.opensuse.org is a wordpress-based blog/cms system which is working pretty well. However the locale communities not have any or have limited infrastructure possibilities. And frankly, this is not job of the news team, however our users could love that kind of place. Because the news.opensuse.org is a wordpress base engine and somebody keep it running. We could step further and "upgrade" it to Wordpress MU [1] edition and start the same thing what opensuse did with wiki. Hi Sascha this unusual on a news portal. With several editors with their own tasks publish their entry / article separately.
Jan has an Wordpress multilingual on his server. Wordpress MU is good choice because it give so much freedom for the editors in their own place (just like we did in wiki)
And we're testing this suite. If is good, so we can migrate to *.opensuse.org. But now we are test the suite. If is ripe for decision than we post this in this list. Any deadline/timeframe? I have created several WMU before. Let me know if I could help.
One think for using the Wiki is the history. So can easy to use an version before the current restored. This feature is in the Wordpress since version 2.6
