[opensuse-marketing] Proposal for an New Ambassador List
Hello Mates, gnokii and i has prepared an new Ambassador List (as Proposal). You can find it under: http://en.opensuse.org/Talk:Ambassador/List . In my view this is an better Actual we haven't imported the other List. I think the Ambassadors are the first local Contact for the People outside. So it is important to put this Ambassador List on the Startpage en.opensuse.org. It is possible to merge Regions from the List. We can make Sublists from this Page to local Ambassador Lists. -- Sincerely yours Sascha Manns openSUSE Marketing Team openSUSE Build Service openSUSE Features Screening Team Web: http://saschamanns.gulli.to Project-Blog: http://lizards.opensuse.org/author/saigkill Private-Blog: http://saschasbacktrace.blogspot.com

Looks good. The only comment I have is that by pre-populating all the regions, we get the "wow, look how many areas *aren't* covered" look. The positive there, of course, is that people can quickly see where we need more

Once we get one version or the other, we'll have the Ambassador list on the front page, definitely.
It is possible to merge Regions from the List. We can make Sublists from this Page to local Ambassador Lists.
Not sure I'm following the sublists comment - could you elaborate? Maybe we have in the Future lots of Ambassadors.

Not sure I'm following the sublists comment - could you elaborate? If we have as example many Ambassadors in Germany and a lot of People and the Rest of Europe too, then the List is maybe a Jungle. So we can set this Page as Index, and if anybody klicks to Germany, he comes to the German Subpage. But this all is just an Proposal, and not completly elaboirated. -- Sincerely yours

Hi, Sascha forgot a few things. First, we have the list post here before we have it filled with the persons from the old list. Because we want to discuss she as structure ;) next point is, we think both the ambassadors must be easy to find & to contact! We both visited the fedora sites an looked after the ambassadors - directly linked on the frontpage. And on SUSE I must use the search function to find the ambassors, then I must find the list, then I must find a guy and visit his site maybe there ist no contact adress! For the most things that an ambassador that an ambassador has to do isnt necessary to speak english. Many Germans dont like make an first contact in this language. I think its better to make lists in here native language such as ambassadors-de and put them on this site for an contact. For countrys we have no ambassadors yet maybe its possible to use an list from an neighbor-country with the same language (for example ambassadors-de for austria and swiss) maybe then we can find ambassadors in this country. br Sirko/gnokii Am Freitag, den 05.06.2009, 19:31 +0200 schrieb Sascha 'saigkill' Manns:

How is that ? http://en.opensuse.org/Talk:Ambassador/List#Japan Do you think it's too complicated for Ambassadors to fill in forms by themselves with this template ? While I see the value in the 'searchablity' of a list, I think that a visual indicator would be more effective in communicating where Ambassadors are, something like a Frappr map. - James Mason 'bear454' On Fri, Jun 5, 2009 at 9:47 AM, Sascha 'saigkill' Manns<samannsml@directbox.com> wrote:

No reason we can't have both... Want to set up a Frappr map? /me deflects... Would it be possible to install the MediaWiki Google Map plugin, so that the wiki page data can be used to generate the map instead of registering on a separate site? http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Google_Maps - James Mason 'bear454' On Fri, Jun 5, 2009 at 11:28 AM, Joe 'Zonker' Brockmeier<jzb@zonker.net> wrote:

Theoretically yes, but the plan is to put oline new Mediawiki version, then add extensions. It is work is progress, so put the request to http://en.opensuse.org/Wiki_Team/Requested_Extensions so that our technical guys have overview what should be considered. I left link without comments, so go ahead and add it. -- Regards, Rajko http://news.opensuse.org/category/people-of-opensuse/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+help@opensuse.org
