[opensuse-marketing] Events for the Leap Year 2016
Hi all, With 2016 just 21 days away, it's time to think about what events the openSUSE projects will attend this year. If you plan on attending an event, please fill in the details at https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Advocates_events#2016. Additionally, 2016 is a Leap Year. If anyone has ideas for what we can do to take advantage of this coincidental Leap year matching up with the release of openSUSE Leap 42.1, please share your idea on this thread. We could also organize a brainstorming team for this idea if you prefer that. I'll start it off with the ideas. Ideas: 1. Create a Leap Year Quiz Game about openSUSE Leap 42.1 for events we attend. The people who score the highest points on the quiz are entered into a monthly drawing to receive a Leap gift. 2. Have a Leap Year Release party Every month at different location throughout the world. v/r Doug -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+owner@opensuse.org

The Release Party sounds cool, but since we already released we should make something between a Release and a pizza beta party, I will definatelly come up with something ;)

A cool idea would be to fix our wiki. Having as target Arch wiki, we could make wikithons every month with a price. Of cource we should set some minimum contribution (how many pages etc) for someone to win the price. We could figure out the details of the wikithons. I guess during 2016 we will have more projects using Leap, so we will be able to document the projects for easy how to's. Not really Leap related but would it be possible to raise some awareness/help for a "What Can I Do For OpenSUSE?" site[1]? Would be great to have something for that up and running, I have already setup a possible site template[2] forked from a fedora project site. If there are any new contributors who want to get involved I think this would be a good way for them to get right into it and a chance to interact with people who deal with some openSUSE projects (since it would need wiki/documentation updates). As Efstathios mentioned, a frequent wiki hackathon would be awesome :) [1] http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-project/2015-10/msg00068.html http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-project/2015-11/msg00001.html [2] https://github.com/alanbortu/asknot-ng -- Regards, Uzair Shamim -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+owner@opensuse.org

I agree Uzair. A site like that could really guide people who want to contribute. Any traction on the progress of it? v/r Doug -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+owner@opensuse.org

Hi, I spoke to Kostas about it a while ago and I think we agreed that first we need to make sure the wiki is up to date on "How to contribute" information and that we could address that through a wiki hackathon. That's why I was wondering if that could be addressed when doing the wiki hackathons you mentioned in the OP. :) We also have a list[1] for pages that could possibly need fixing but they haven't gone through any formal review, just things we think need improving. Hi, Please open an issue on github so we can keep track of the spanish translations easier. I think that's the best way to track it but if you have a better way I am all ears. :) If you look inside questions/includes/openSUSE/ you should see all the yml files that are used to generate the webpage questions. With regards to translations, please see the "Preparing Translations" section in the README. I'm not familiar with translations but I think you just have to edit the .po file it generates for the specific language and translate each individual string, then place the file in the l10n/opensuse/locale/ directory (currently doesn't exist but I will make it). With that said, I don't think you should put too much effort into this just yet as most of the questions/answers I have put in are from my own searching and I am not satisfied with some of the links I used (see my reply to Doug). One thing I think you can help with right away though is for the "translation" questions in questions/includes/openSUSE/translation.yml as I am not sure how the translations team works. -- Regards, Uzair Shamim -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+owner@opensuse.org
