[opensuse-marketing] openSUSE 11.2 launch plan

Hi all, Looking for contributions, suggestions, etc. for the 11.2 launch plan. The skeleton draft is up on the wiki, here: http://en.opensuse.org/Marketing/Team/11_2_Launch Includes timeline, talking points, a place to put collateral, and so on. Ambassadors: Now is the time to start planning launch parties. I hope that every ambassador will be doing something for the 11.2 launch -- whether that's planning a major launch party for a region, or simply planning a small 11.2 get-together or being sure to talk up 11.2 at school, work, etc. Also, we need a more comprehensive list of publications around the world that might be willing to publish information about openSUSE. We have pretty good lists for North America and Europe (or at least parts of Europe) but around the world we could use a lot of help here. If you see other areas where you are willing, able, and interested in helping, please speak up! Hi, I added some points. In the section "Collateral" I put my mailadress on the section "collateral". Its an offer, I have seen some artwork for the last Launch Partys, all maked with many love but overfilled with information. We can do it better and especially in using the CI ;) Maybe we can create an template over the next days br gnokii Am Dienstag, den 08.09.2009, 10:27 -0400 schrieb Joe 'Zonker' Brockmeier:

Just to be clear: you're offering to create posters? That'd be great if we had some posters that have some space for each event to fill in the space. Cool ! ;-) In consideration of using it for Launch Party that would be held in many countries, I think the space for informations on Place/Time/Fee would be helpful. And, if we can get the editable format file of this design instead of .png file, we can translate and/or replace the catch copy as we need. ;-) Best, -- _/_/ Satoru Matsumoto - openSUSE Member - Japan _/_/ _/_/ Marketing/Weekly News/openFATE Screening Team _/_/ _/_/ mail: helios_reds_at_gmx.net / irc: HeliosReds _/_/ _/_/ http://blog.geeko.jp/author/heliosreds _/_/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+help@opensuse.org

I'm new to this ambassador thing so I'm wondering what is the availability of OpenSUSE11.2 media? My plan for launch would be to announce it through our local Linux user group and to give away media to everyone who's interested. I've previously done demos for 10.X and 11.X so it's probably too soon for a general OpenSUSE 11.2 demo but if someone has any ideas for something a little more focused that I can demo using OpenSUSE then that might be possible. --- John Lange www.johnlange.ca -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+help@opensuse.org

11.2 media will be available shortly after the launch date, but it's unlikely we'll be able to have replicated media available by the launch.

You might think about doing a WebYaST demo for 11.2 - that's a major feature in 11.2. Also: Desktop demos -- major new KDE & GNOME releases in 11.2. (KDE 4.3, GNOME 2.28) Other thoughts? The first user group meeting after the release date would be December 1, 2009 so it might work out.

I'm trying to get excited about Yast/Web but .... I think it should be called, YaYaSTI (Yet ANOTHER YaST Interface). I know you're thinking "this guy defiantly should not be on the marketing list..."

It's not technically "OpenSUSE Release" related but SuSE Studio would make a sweet demo but unfortunately I've never been able to get an invite. -- John Lange http://www.johnlange.ca -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+help@opensuse.org

Hello friends, Announcing my Launch Party for 11.2 14th of November 13.00-18.00 (Berlin time) Have rent a room (http://www.haus-spektrum.de/) for round 50 people. It was not so simple. I was to late there is an exhibition on this weekend in this house. My problem with this is I have all guests to guide in the room so thats she have not to pay the prize for the exhibition. Now I am planning the content. My local LUG help with a kind of Installparty or help repair defect systems (software). I picked for this my doctors from the "Praxis Dr. Tux" on Chemnitzer Linux-Tage. On the portal I plan a demo point teegee-tg runs them. Need a little bit help with talks, we can have there 4 or 5 talks about openSUSE specific things. Cant run all talks alone because I have the guiding problem. In my LUG are not really much SUSE guys most of us use debian or fedora respective Scientific Linux. The guys I call doctors are not really guys that make talks, they are more guys for practical things. Hope can find a little bit help and that other guys came out with her plannings for the Launch Events. Maybe there is one or more useful idea br gnokii -- more http://karl-tux-stadt.de/ktuxs http://www.xing.com/go/invita/11208336 http://twitter.com/karltuxstadt http://identi.ca/karltuxstadt -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+help@opensuse.org
