As discussed in the last marketing IRC meeting, we'd like to make the list of ambassadors write protected so that only a few can edit it. Also, a lot of user pages from ambassadors are not created in the new wiki. If all ambassadors could create their own user page, it would be fine! thanks, Andreas -- Andreas Jaeger, Program Manager openSUSE, aj@{novell.com,opensuse.org} Twitter: jaegerandi | Identica: jaegerandi SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, GF: Markus Rex, HRB 16746 (AG Nürnberg) Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GPG fingerprint = 93A3 365E CE47 B889 DF7F FED1 389A 563C C272 A126

Do you mean the new format of the user page on wiki.opensuse.org? Just create one and use the offered template ;) Andreas -- Andreas Jaeger, Program Manager openSUSE, aj@{novell.com,opensuse.org} Twitter: jaegerandi | Identica: jaegerandi SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, GF: Markus Rex, HRB 16746 (AG Nürnberg) Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GPG fingerprint = 93A3 365E CE47 B889 DF7F FED1 389A 563C C272 A126

Great! I have already updated my user page [0], but now i have a Question about the new wiki structure. I have a page of my local user group [1] in the old wiki, and I was wondering where can we set the page in the new Wiki?... Will be a category for LUG's set there pages? I use that page for posting posting events (the main use right know), meetings, members and stuff like that. Thanks in advance :-D Cheers! wiki.o.o is the temporary location for the on-going transition of the Wiki. All the contents on wiki.o.o will move back to en.o.o pretty soon - AFAIK, the switch is planned on 12th July (this month). http://lists.opensuse.org/archive/opensuse-wiki/2010-06/msg00055.html For a time, this switch will affect only en.o.o and other $LANG.o.o will remain as they are now.
Will be a category for LUG's set there pages? I use that page for posting posting events (the main use right know), meetings, members and stuff like that.
So you can continuously use and edit the pages on your $LANG.o.o (in this case, es.o.o). How we switch $LANG.o.o to new instance is not clear ATM and will be discussed after the transition of en.o.o will be done. Yes the categories have already been created (some of them still need working). So if you wish to transfer pages (helping hands are welcome)or want to have a look at the process , this is the place - http://en.opensuse.org/Marketing/wiki . I am not sure about $LANG.o.o too :-) P.S This transfer process was my AI , but due to some reasons I am not getting enough time.So if you wish to go ahead , plz do so :-)
Best,

The old wiki that you refer in [1] is in Spanish wiki. I'm not sure when is scheduled for update, but we can setup anyway in English wiki (why it would not be common wiki, just wiki.opensuse.org). http://wiki.opensuse.org/Portal:Linux_user_groups as an entry page for that part of our activity. I would also take opportunity to mention that browsing in a new wiki is starting with Portal:<topic> as some kind of main page for the topic. Navigation, is performed trough direct links in articles, categories and automatically generated lists of categories and articles trough CategoryTree extension [3]. That way we have one task, to keep categories up to date, instead of tens of manually created listings that need permanent updates (when we can guess that they exist and where they are). There is more tools in the new wiki. Some are relatively simple to use, some we did not touch yet. They all can be used to get different listings that will update themselves automatically, as long as we keep articles categorized. I didn't have time think how to organize articles and data for Ambassadors and LUGs. It seems as good sample for Semantic MediaWiki [4] extension, but that is the one that is the most complex and it will take time to learn enough to use it efficiently. The old article naming habits using something like LUG/South_America/Venezuela are not good for many reasons, and should be abandoned. One of reasons is that they create static structures that are hard to sort in a different way as sorting information is hard coded in the title.
Thanks in advance :-D
Cheers!
