[opensuse-marketing] compliments for our promo!
Heya all, Bruce Byfield, a journalist at Linux Pro Magazine, has written a blog post about how he appreciated our marketing work! He mentions how cool the feature list is, talking about every feature we have (thanks, Izabel, Kostas) and how helpful the screenshots were (yay! Nice one, zoumpis, Richard). Of course, my rambling was a bit too much but that leaves room for improvement ;-) He didn't see how we had awesome promo stuff ready before the release thanks to our artists - Marcel, Victor, Carlos, Bruno and everyone who helped on- line - you guys did great! Thank all of you for your hard work: this release was awesome. Especially thanks to the team who came to the marketing&artwork hackathon: without you, this would absolutely not have been possible. And yes, that includes those who joined remotely (andiiii!) and the guys from the openSUSE team ;-) Lots of hugs, Jos Get your compliments here: http://www.linuxpromagazine.com/content/view/full/58352 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+owner@opensuse.org

Yes, absolutely. I know Kostas and Izabel didn't feel great about the work we accomplished at the Marketing Hackathon but rest assured that without that work, this would NOT have happened! The social media impact is also interesting, see image attached. The green ones are from openSUSE, the Blue ones are Fedora. Google Plus (the balls) went up like crazy, twitter did stay the same. Our twitter impact was really mediocre, btw, as I said on IRC at some point - does nobody in openSUSE tweet anymore? /J

Yes, I do tweet all year long. Not only on releases. I got surprised everybody seemed to move toward Google Plus by abandomning Identica, Twitter, Facebook. Do I missed any debate about it? Do you think G+ is catching better new users for openSUSE than the old social media networks? I have also doing the same on my Facebook account. We plan soon distribute some 12.3 promo DVDs in free software events here in my city (Flisol 2013 and Freedom Software Day 2013). Awesome to hear you all are still tweeting/denting and liking ;-) Keep that up, of course. I guess some people are moving to G+ but there are still millions of users on the other platforms and we can't all abandon them...

Agreed, it is important to keep promoting stuff. When I publish something I always try to make sure to put it on our twitter, G+ and Facebook accounts... But more is always welcome!
