[opensuse-marketing] press status for the conference
Hi all, I'd like to try and give a little overview of the status of promo/press matters for the conference. Latest stuff: A 'press alert' should go out today in Germany (or should've gone out yesterday). I'm trying to get an international alert out as well. We've been writing a fair bit on news.opensuse.org which reaches the majority of our own community and we have ads on LWN.net and the magazines of our other two media partners. Otherwise, it depends on what the press picks up... Of course, blogs and writing articles for other sites is still very much welcome!!!
What kind of press kit do we have?
One which is almost done ;-) The contents: - Welcome to oSC & SUSE Labs and introducing "RWX" - Some history, facts & figures on oSC & SUSE Labs - Goals and expectations of oSC & SUSE Labs 2011 - about openSUSE - about SUSE (being reviewed now, if you'd like to look at it, just let me know in a private mail)
Which press contacts are activated?
Vera has invited 5 journalists and we get 3 journalists who are media partners. On Tuesday we have a 1 hour round table in the nuremberg office with SUSE management, we'll have a dinner with them (most likely Tuesday night) and they of course get the press kit. Otherwise we'll just let them loose on you all... :D
Wjhat are your plans for the last days before the conference strats?
We have a few more articles coming, including the announcement of the 'drone contest' where we give away a AR Drone to a lucky attendee. This one is still being finished, sorry, complicated... What can you do to help? - TALK TO PEOPLE. A lot of people still don't know about oSC, unfortunately! Invite them on IRC or wherever you see them. Personally, that works best! - Blog and do whatever you can to get the word out. We're at a little over 200 registrants right now - which is a bit better than last year but still very much short of the 500 people we were hoping for! HELP! Tweet, dent... Try to submit articles to websites... Cheers, Jos

why should somebody not yet openSUSE related spend money to come at OSC? (I mean non Nurnberg people, eventually non german)? For us it's appealing to meet friends, but for the others? Next: is there something planned to make the *after* OSC press release? last OSC day? start of marketting hack feast? thanks jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://www.youtube.com/user/jdddodinorg http://jdd.blip.tv/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+help@opensuse.org
