I'd like to open a brainstorming session on how to use social media to promote the openSUSE 11.3 launch. Please send your ideas - and if you like to volunteer helping, please speak up as well.
Andreas
I think we had some very good results on the beginning days of 11.2 release and part of this was coordinating with a mini-hackfest (or brainstorming as you call it now) on social media before the release date. We saw some good numbers and we made it onto the front page of Digg.
So, I've added digg now to the wiki page http://en.opensuse.org/Marketing/Team/11.3_Launch_with_Social_Media
One thing I don't think we did well enough is to record the metrics we were able to gather from the 11.2 release. This is something we need to do better this time (e.g., number of hits on a short url, visibility, downloads that occur through referrals, etc.) so we can measure our success as we go forth into 12.0 and beyond.
Please add something on the page.
The number one important thing is that we coordinate everyone to join together and use the power of social networking (which is different from social media) to spread the word fast and furious across the internet.
Please add stuff on the wiki page - and be as detailed as possible.
