Hi Michael,
Welcome aboard! And what a delight to have a representative from Attachmate on the team.
Your combination of technical ability and marketing expertise will definitely be a great asset. Have you worked with any open source projects in the past?
I'm currently involved in the Art and Marketing teams. I'm keen to help work on a cohesive aesthetic for our next release, so that we keep nice consistent branding with a look (and plenty of materials!) that reflect our brand.
We had some help for SCALE from Karl Cheney from the Novell office - I'm not sure if he was interested in becoming more involved (perhaps you could give him a nudge?)
This is a great time to get involved, as I'm sure there will be a lot of strategizing once 11.4 is off and sailing under her own steam. Now I'm tempted to say something about feeling free to grab the wheel... or an oar... so I'll quit before the metaphor makes us seasick.... :)
cheers,
Helen

Hi openSUSE marketing team
I've been considering ways to contribute to the openSUSE project now that I've been using it as an OS for several months. I have a background as an engineer, but I could probably contribute more effectively on the marketing side these days. So, I'm reaching out to this team for ideas.
I may have met some of you already via email since I started promoting openSUSE inside of Attachmate recently but now I'd like to get more directly and personally involved as a contributor to the openSUSE project. It's a great distribution and a great project.
Let me know what I can do to jump in and help!
Best regards, MM
Michael!
Great to see you found your way to the batcave! :-) Chuck and Helen have given some good advice and they're both great on the team. I have a couple of suggestions that would go well and probably wouldn't be too time consuming at first: We've become all about the noise lately. And our noise has been pretty good lately, if I do say so myself. All noise is good, some would say. And I think you/Attachmate can definitely play a role in helping to make more noise. 1. A while ago we talked about doing an article about the fact that you have been using openSUSE for several months and loving it. If you could, how about writing an article that can be posted on news.oopensuse.org that talks about your experience. Doesn't have to be all rosy. It can reflective of how you learned to use it and adopted it and how you use it. 2. Linux Fest NorthWest is coming to your neighborhood! James Mason is doing the planning on that and the two of us have discussed some of the booth planning for that event at the end of April. We've already talked about Attachmate joining us at the booth and making a really good splash. (Note: We did a high-pitched splash at SCALE and it really paid off.) I'm going to leave it to James to reach out to you on ideas and planning, but let's give him a chance to recuperate after 11.4. Poor dude has been working day and night with the release coming up. :-) Both suggestions, I think, will mark a significant signal to the world that Attachmate recognizes and embraces openSUSE, which will be an important signal considering how we've seen other projects get negatively affected by a corporate merger of its sponsor. Oh, and for the immediate time-being, tweet facebook shout from your rooftop when 11.4 is released on Thursday! :-) Bryen -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+help@opensuse.org
