Is the goal to sell more ? Immediately ?
Selling is not openSUSE project's main goal but "to promote the use of Linux everywhere". That's why free downloads, magazine (hopefully not only strictly Linux related ones :-) cover mounts and our Promo DVDs for events/LUGs exist.
Bye, Steve
Perhaps the community should reconsider it's concept of "selling" openSUSE. If we want more people to use openSUSE, we have to sell the experience of using the product. The concept and values of Linux or open source software, to most people, would be ancillary to the experience of using openSUSE. I'm a sales manager and commercial BDO during the day, so my perspective may not jibe with the rest of the openSUSE community. However, I'm so impressed with openSUSE that I think we have an opportunity to delight enthusiasts everywhere by introducing them to this distro. (Certain challenges, such as media playback, preclude openSUSE from being a true consumer product.) So, I'm trying to raise the profile of openSUSE in my community by directly selling ("smile and dial" or "meet and greet") the openSUSE experience to enthusiasts and I.T. professionals. I'm really not advocating for Linux, since I've used other distros that have yielded a less satisfactory experience. I'm new to the list, so I appreciate any comments or suggestions and apologize in advance for any violations of the community's protocols or rules.
