Hi I am a coordinator of Russian translation team and fun of SuSE since from 2002 year. During the all of this period I popularize the Linux and openSUSE in particularly. As a programmer (Qt/C++/Java/Delphi/SQL), I try to develop my program for multiplatform, for easy migration from windows to linux. During the last years by my energies, to openSUSE were migrated 5 private businessmen’s , several private persons. Local intranet (network) of our condominium, under control of openSUSE 10.3. But I think that is small from that what I can do. I am living in industrial region. In our region, there are a range of company which work in different fields such as metal still, coil, shipping industry. The local network of the small company consist more then 50 computers. The biggest have approximately more than 3000 computers. Also there are a lot of colleges, Institute, academeies, which train personnel / people for these companies. The most of them still using MS Windows, and use Linux system only as server system (database, file server, domain controller). But owing to some conditions, I think you know which (high payment to MS and so on), many company are going migrate to open source systems and not going – they are do it now! As you see, there is a big field for openSUSE marketing. After a conversation, which I have with it-managers of some companies, I make a list which Linux system they are going install on their computers: FreeBSD Ubuntu ASPLinux (clone RED HAT) Fedore core And only several managers told me that may will try install openSUSE. My questions and answers: Why we have this result? I don’t know. But I’d like to improve this situation. From which I must to start? I think that from some presentations of openSUSE. What, I must have for it? I think that any kind of posters, prospects, t-shirts, free boxes. What any can improve my voluntary? I think that some payment for my traveling, rent of accommodation for presentation (if necessary) and so on. All comments and advise are welcome.
