[opensuse-m17n] Non-UTF-8 locales?
Hi, do people use openSUSE, and specifically YaST, with a character encoding different from UTF-8? If you here don't know, can you point me to a place which non-unicodites visit? We have some code in YaST that tries to support that but it may well be broken. It would be nice to know whether we can simply remove it instead of fixing. -- Martin Vidner, Cloud & Systems Management Team http://en.opensuse.org/User:Mvidner Kuracke oddeleni v restauraci je jako fekalni oddeleni v bazenu
Hi, Martin, On a fresh installed openSUSE, echo $LANG will output: zh_CN.UTF-8. and it'll give you Chinese look, so users don't need to set `zh_CN.GBK`, things like this. Personally I think if the user set it (not so friendly, no GUI), then he must be experienced enough that can handle `export LANG="zh_CN.UTF8" for YaST. If an entry in release notes can save most of your time and energy, do it.
