[opensuse-m17n] Deprecate some ibus-table-* packages

Hi, now I submitted ibus stuff in M17N repo to FACTORY. Some packages are still under evaluation by autobuild team, but the basic packages have been checked in. I looked through the package list, then found that some ibus-table-* packages still remain like below. ibus-table-jyutping ibus-table-xinhua ibus-table-zhengma ibus-table-zhuyin ibus-table-ziranma The web page of ibus shows that they are deprecated. Can we drop these packages, or any usefulness to keep them? thanks, Takashi -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-m17n+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-m17n+help@opensuse.org

Does anyone have clue? We need an advice from Chinese natives. Also, I'm working on adding "Provies: locale(ibus:XX)" tag to each ibus module package. The package with such a tag will be installed automatically when ibus is installed on the specified locale (XX). Then now I stumbled on ibus-table-*. Which package should be installed automatically for which locales? thanks, Takashi -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-m17n+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-m17n+help@opensuse.org

Takashi, I think we should keep/install ibus-table-zhuyin for Taiwan locale (zh_TW), I never heard of the other four input tables/methods, perhaps they're used in mainland china. Hope this helps. Regards, Michael 2011/7/22 Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de>

Thanks! Also, could you check whether ibus-table-zhuyin can be still used with the latest M17N ibus-*? Since ibus and ibus-table* have been updated to 1.3.x, I'm not sure whether 1.2.x can still work well. Meanwhile I added the locale-specific provides tag to this package. Hi Takashi, I am not familiar with them and some information are got from internet. So they are just for your reference. :)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jyutping. I never used it, and I think it should be useful for people who lived in Hong Kong or Guangdong province.
ibus-table-xinhua
Also I never used this one before and searched from internet. I think it is a kind of Pinyin input method, but with some optimization and maybe with a kind of commercial software license (I am not pretty sure about this). I think we can follow upstream to drop it.
ibus-table-zhengma
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zhengma_method. It is not widely used for simple Chinese input, but it is better to keep it as some ones from specific industry may need it and windows also has it. We don't need to install it by default during installation but we can let end-users choose to install it later.
ibus-table-zhuyin
It is useful for people who lived in TW. We can keep it, but I am not sure if it needs to be installed by default for Traditional Chinese language or not. Need some one who uses traditional Chinese language gives some advice.
ibus-table-ziranma
I suggest that as zhengma, we don't install it and let end-user to install it later. Thanks, Joey Zheng -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-m17n+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-m17n+help@opensuse.org

OK, so we can drop ibus-table-xinhua but keep the rest (if they work). I sent a droprequest for ibus-table-xinhua now. Unfortunately the checkins of new ibus-* take long time because of the legal review. Hopefully they'll be resolved soon...
