[opensuse-m17n] Haven't had a repository for 11.3 yet

I've noticed that no one hasn't created openSUSE 11.3 repository in M17N project yet. Can anyone do this task? Or, tell me how I can do. :-) Best, -- _/_/ Satoru Matsumoto - openSUSE Member - Japan _/_/ _/_/ Marketing/Weekly News/openFATE Screening Team _/_/ _/_/ mail: helios_reds_at_gmx.net / irc: HeliosReds _/_/ _/_/ http://blog.zaq.ne.jp/opensuse/ _/_/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-m17n+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-m17n+help@opensuse.org

It's easily done by "osc metaprj -e M17N". I fixed it now, though. Thanks for noticing. Takashi -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-m17n+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-m17n+help@opensuse.org

I have found it at http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/M17N/openSUSE_11.3/noarch/ But I still can't find the fonts of the former FZKaiTi, FZKaiTiB, FZFangSong, FZMingTiB, FZSongTi. Am I right to assume that they have been dropped due to unsolved copyright issues? Even if I install the old fonts which are still available on the net, CJK LaTeX partially uses some of these fonts but then fails as follows: /usr/lib/texmf/web2c/mktexnam: Could not map source abbreviation F for FZKaiTiB-uni8a. /usr/lib/texmf/web2c/mktexnam: Need to update /usr/share/texmf/fonts/map/dvips/skak/special.map? mktextfm: Running mf-nowin -progname=mf \mode:=ljfour; mag:=1; nonstopmode; input FZKaiTiB-uni8a This is METAFONT, Version 2.718281 (TeX Live 2009/openSUSE) kpathsea: Running mktexmf FZKaiTiB-uni8a ! Even if I install the old fonts which are still available on the net, CJK LaTeX partially uses some of these fonts but then fails as follows:
The solution to this was a simple sudo /sbin/SuSEconfig --module cjk-latex Happy to see that this list is still there. Also, the Wadalab fonts seem to be not fully integrated. Hmmm, that's strange. This isn't reproduced at least in my environment (openSUSE 11.3 x86_64). Maybe TexLive related issue? Refer to: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=607615

, available for this context as well?
In my environment, 'Map wadalab.map' in /etc/texmf/web2c/updmap.cfg is not cemmented out, but I get no error by running 'sudo /sbin/SuSEconfig --module cjk-latex'. I guess so. It's a commercial font package. There are a few alternatives in M17N project. Takashi -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-m17n+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-m17n+help@opensuse.org

By reading the package documentation once more, I have noticed that it would still be possible for Novell (and by implication probalby its successor) to include these fonts within its distribution. The English translation of item 3 of the copyright notice 3.Making use of founder fonts in any form in any non-commercial or commercial; is wrong. The original says 3.将方正字库以任何形式用于除Novell系列产品外任何商业的或非商业的软件或产品; which means 3. Making use of founder fonts in any commercial or non-commercial product except for the Novell system products. Thus I think it would be appropriate for Opensuse to include these packages in the non-oss repository once more. -- Hartmut Pilch http://a2e.de/phm -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-m17n+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-m17n+help@opensuse.org

The English translation of item 3 of the copyright notice
3.Making use of founder fonts in any form in any non-commercial or commercial;
is wrong.
The original says
3.将方正字库以任何形式用于除Novell系列产品外任何商业的或非商业的软件或产品;
which means
3. Making use of founder fonts in any commercial or non-commercial product except for the Novell system products.
Thus I think it would be appropriate for Opensuse to include these packages in the non-oss repository once more.
Well, openSUSE distro is built from OBS repos. And, this sort of packages isn't appropriate for OBS, thus it can't be bundled with openSUSE distro. Keeping the package in OBS allows everyone to create a new image that doesn't belong to the category, for example. (I wonder even openSUSE distro itself is no longer Novell product, too.) Note that the SLE-distros are built from different (internal) BS, thus they can contain such packages without problems. In short, we should push more cleaner open-source fonts for OBS and openSUSE distros. thanks, Takashi -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-m17n+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-m17n+help@opensuse.org
