That's not 100 % correct. There are TrueType-OTF fonts (quadratic splines), normally .ttf and Type1/Postscript-OTF (cubic splines) fonts, normally .otf.
However, I think that detail is negligible for packaging. :)

Heh, the argument can be religious :) Installing in /usr/share/fonts/truetype would be most convenient, IMO, too, as freetype and others look up this directory as the primary location. SVG is a different thing, and I also don't think we need it. Or, if any, provide it in an individual package.
