I don't think it is a font problem, also because I use the same font in kedit and quanta but they don't have the same behaviour. This is only seen in kwrite, kate, and konsole.

Then I guess it is a problem of kwrite, kate, and konsole. Until now, konsole never worked well for me for CJK and I recommend to avoid it and use rxvt instead until the problems in konsole are fixed. But as kwrite and kate work for me, I wonder whether you have older versions? Let's first check this.
