I installed suse9.1 personal version, and also installed some Chinese True Type fonts, the fonts file are obtained from suse 9.1 professional disk. I enable anti-aliasing fonts by issue 'kcmshell fonts' and check the box, and in fact it is already enabled by default. my problem is the Chinese fonts looks very fuzzy in konqueror or other program, but the English letters looks very well. So, I don't know what is my problem?
Can you please try whether it improves when you use the update packages for freetype2 from
ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/m17n/9.1/i586/freetype2-2.1.7-53.3.i586.rpm ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/m17n/9.1/i586/freetype2-2.1.8-1.1.i586.rpm ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/m17n/9.1/i586/freetype2-devel-2.1.7-53.3.i586.rpm ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/m17n/9.1/i586/freetype2-devel-2.1.8-1.1.i586.rpm ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/m17n/9.1/i586/ft2demos-2.1.7-88.3.i586.rpm ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/m17n/9.1/i586/ft2demos-2.1.8-1.1.i586.rpm ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/m17n/9.1/nosrc/ft2demos-2.1.7-88.3.nosrc.rpm ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/m17n/9.1/nosrc/ft2demos-2.1.8-1.1.nosrc.rpm ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/m17n/9.1/src/freetype2-2.1.7-53.3.src.rpm ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/m17n/9.1/src/freetype2-2.1.8-1.1.src.rpm ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/m17n/9.1/x86_64/freetype2-2.1.7-53.3.x86_64.rpm ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/m17n/9.1/x86_64/freetype2-2.1.8-1.1.x86_64.rpm

Both the 2.1.7 and the 2.1.8 packages there contain a patch
http://www.kde.gr.jp/~akito/patch/freetype2/
which improves the rendering of CJK glyphs a lot.
This patch is already included in the freetype 2 in SLES9 but not in the freetype 2 in SuSE Linux 9.1.

Can you sent an URL pointing to a screen shot which demonstrates your problem? You cannot sent a screen shot to the mailing list, attachments are not allowed. But an URL would be perfect. If you can not sent an URL, you can sent a screen shot directly to me. -- Mike FABIAN <mfabian@suse.de> http://www.suse.de/~mfabian 睡眠不足はいい仕事の敵だ。
