Dear friends, does anybody know how to activate the deadkeys so that they work for Openoffice (and emacs etc.). I do have a basic german installation with japanese input activatet and everything runs fine due to the excellent description of Mike Fabian. Only the deadkeys in OO dont work. Jakob

Which version of SuSE Linux and which input method do you use? Input methods using XIM usually make the use of dead keys and compose impossible because dead keys and compose are also using XIM (sort of) and you can use only one input method at a time via XIM. If you are using kinput2 I suggest that you use SCIM instead. Recent versions of SCIM have their own support for dead keys and compose built in, i.e. although SCIM also prevents you from using the dead key and compose support in X11, it is no problem because SCIM itself offers you the same functionality. -- Mike FABIAN <mfabian@suse.de> http://www.suse.de/~mfabian 睡眠不足はいい仕事の敵だ。
