The problem: When I run Ximian the menus appear perfectly in Japanese with Japanese fonts, BUT:
* when I go to create a new message and type Japanese the text entered appears as empty squares. * Worse, when I read any Japanese email all of the Japanese text appears as empty squares. * Even worse still, when I read Japanese email the places where things like "To:", "From:", "Subjust:" would be is replaced with empty squares that obviously contain the Japanese versions of that text. * The summary page is unreadable because all of the Japanese text is empty squares.
I've experienced with this too. But I think it's because of Missing charsets in Fontset creation. CMIIW.
Gdk-WARNING **: Missing charsets in FontSet creation Gdk-WARNING **: JISX0208.1983-0 Gdk-WARNING **: JISX0201.1976-0
I go to gtkhtml-properties-capplet and set the font to -misc-fixed-medium-r-normal-*-14-*-*-*-c-*-jisx0208.1983-0 but still not diplay properly.
Any ideas?

PS: Thanks to Mike Fabian san and Yasunari Imado san about an update of gtk.
Are the above fonts part of the SuSE 8.2 distro? How can they be added? From where can they be obtained?
