I need some kind hints about how to use kinput2 and canna.
Situation: 1) I installed canna 2) I installed kinput2 3) I entered the command export XMODIFIERS="@im=kinput2" 4) I entered the command LANG=ja_JP kinput2 -xim -kinput -canna & 5) I started my e-mail program KMail
LC_CTYPE=ja_JP kmail
6) I want to write a Japanese e-mail and use Shift-Space... but nothing happens, except that I entered a space.
What am I missing? Where need I to do what additional step?
I guess LC_CTYPE was not set to a Japanese locale when
kmail was started.

Dear friends, dear Mike, thanks a lot for your support. I think we can narrow the area of the problem: After following your advice (I changed RC_LC-TYPE to ja_JP), I can switch on the XIM with Shift-Space. I also am able to see the different kanji-choices for one pronounciation in hiragana. BUT: when I make my final choice with Return-key, everything changes to question marks. Could you please give me one more push? Thanks a lot in advance, Bernhard Am Samstag, 18. Mai 2002 00:14 schrieben Sie:
