kde 3.2 : no Japanese language pack
Hello, I just installed the new kde 3.2 for SuSE 9.0 I made a new SuSE 9.0 installation using the 3.2 packages instead of 3.1.4. It worked fine (after getting some soundcard settings right on kmix), but there is no Japanese language pack in the SuSE folders, neither 9.0 nor 8.2 even though it seems to exist for other distros. When I installed the 3.1.4 version of kde3-i18n-Japanese instead, the existence is obviously recognized in the kde control centre / language selection, but no Japanese appears in the kde UI. Traditional and Simplified Chinese, both existing as 3.2 package, are working. Did anyone succeed on getting Japanese to work on kde3.2, SuSE 9.0? regards, Thomas Piekenbrock -- GMX ProMail (250 MB Mailbox, 50 FreeSMS, Virenschutz, 2,99 EUR/Monat...) jetzt 3 Monate GRATIS + 3x DER SPIEGEL +++ http://www.gmx.net/derspiegel +++

Yes, I did. I made the package of KDE 3.2's i18n for the Japanese user on the SUSE 9.0. There are the unofficial version. They are created from CVS(daily snapshot) of KDE(i18n). I think it's very good. Please try, if good. # It can be used also in versions other than SUSE 9.0. These i18n files (Japanese) are equipped with the conditions which are sufficient for being released formally. # Much files were updated by the translation team(Japanese) # after the release of KDE 3.2.0. Consequently, they fulfilled # the conditions of a release. Please check the following URL, if you are interested in the progress stats of a KDE translation team(Japanese). http://i18n.kde.org/stats/gui/KDE_3_2_BRANCH/ja/index.php http://i18n.kde.org/stats/gui/KDE_3_2_BRANCH/essential.php <(Packages are here)> ftp://ftp.kde.gr.jp/pub/jkug/stable/3.2/contrib/SUSE/ # Probably, it will be good to use the newest thing. # (Please sometimes check) P.S. It is deterministic that the formal release of the Japanese i18n file is carried out at KDE 3.2.1. ----- M. Takeyama
