I still didn't found the CJK-Latex related files on the installation disk. Is this correct or have I overlooked something (Suse 8.0 German I use). If I am right I have to pick up the stuff from somewhere? -- Mit freundlichen Grüßen / Best regards Ulrich Groh

It's unfortunately missinng on the German and the International-1 (US) CD-set of SuSE Linux 8.0 and only available on the International-2 (Czech) CD-set.
If I am right I have to pick up the stuff from somewhere?
I just uploaded the CJK-LaTeX packages for SuSE Linux 8.0 to

ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/people/mfabian/8.0-i386/cjk-latex-wadalab-mincho.rpm
ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/people/mfabian/8.0-i386/cjk-latex-wadalab-mincho2.rpm
ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/people/mfabian/8.0-src/cjk-latex-4.4.0_20010731-226.src.rpm
so that you don't have to wait for the FTP Version of SuSE Linux 8.0.
You don't have to download all of these packages, most of them only
contain some rarely used bitmap and PostScript fonts. Downloading the
small main package, i.e.
ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/people/mfabian/8.0-i386/cjk-latex.rpm
ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/people/mfabian/8.0-i386/cjk-latex-4.4.0_20010731-226.i386.rpm
(only 394265 bytes) is probably enough.
On SuSE Linux 8.0, you can also easily generate Type1 fonts for use
with CJK-LaTeX for all the TrueType fonts listed in
/etc/ttf2pk/ttfonts.map by calling
/usr/sbin/cjk-latex-config --type1
as root (Attention, depending on how many of the fonts listed in
/etc/ttf2pk/ttfonts.map you have installed this may take a *long*
time!). When this script has finished, the generated Type1 versions of
the fonts will automatically be used in the PostScript files and PDF
files generated by latex instead of the bitmap fonts in pk-format.
This gives better scalability in Acroread (no pixels become visible
even at extreme zoom levels) and makes it possible to display the PDF
files with xpdf as well.
Because you can easily generate Type1 fonts like this from the
TrueType Kochi fonts which are already on your CD-set, you don't
really need to download the huge packages with the Type1 Wadalab fonts
(cjk-latex-wadalab-gothic.rpm, cjk-latex-wadalab-maru.rpm,
cjk-latex-wadalab-maru2.rpm, cjk-latex-wadalab-mincho.rpm,
cjk-latex-wadalab-mincho2.rpm) unless you prefer the style of the
Wadalab fonts.
This generating of Type1 fonts also works for the Korean 'Baekmuk' and
for the Chinese 'Arphic' TrueType fonts, the necessary entries in
/etc/ttf2pk/ttfonts.map are already there, you just need to call the
above script if you have installed the fonts. The 'Baekmuk' and
'Arphic' fonts are also missing on the SuSE Linux 8.0 CD sets, they
will be available in the 8.0 FTP version but you can also get them
from the 7.3 FTP version now:
ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/7.3/suse/han1/baekmuk-ttf.rpm
ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/7.3/suse/han1/ttf-arphic-bkai00mp.rpm
ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/7.3/suse/han1/ttf-arphic-bsmi00lp.rpm
ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/7.3/suse/han1/ttf-arphic-gbsn00lp.rpm
ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/7.3/suse/han1/ttf-arphic-gkai00mp.rpm
ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/7.3/suse/han1/ttf-arphic.rpm
