Hi @ll,
so, as i already told on irc and with some delay here is my life sign.
Iam trying to get involved in the opensuse lxde stuff. So i hope there is any todo list wich i could help working on.
Maybe i should told what i can do :-) Well, iam an systemadministrator so i think i know a bit of everything. I could help translate packages (english <-> german mostly), i could build packages which are needed or wanted and not yet build, bugfix things or even help on managing the repositries. I can code in python, a bit perl and c/c++. I have a well knowledge of system managment, of course :-)
So, tell me where i can start.
Best whishes
Joerg

Hi joerg!
well.. let me write a list of what can be done:
Downstream (opensuse specific)
High Priority
Fix and improve LXCC and LXDM-CONF (python) to add AT LEAST gettext (with .poes) support
Mediaum Priority - - Porting wiki pages from old-en.opensuse.org/LXDE to en.opensuse.org/Portal:LXDE
- - Add new pages/tutorial ecc
Low Priority
- - Packaging - - Branding (this will soon move to medium or high priority as soon as we know the main suse 11.4 branding ideas) - - Everything else in your mind
Upstream
Hig Priority
- - Write code, fix bugs ecc ecc (C + gtk2+)
Medium/Low Priority
- - Translations
Regards Andrea

Hi,
so first of all thank you for the list.
I think i will take a look at the upstream git repo to compare what we have on opensuse side and could be took from the upstream. After that i switch to the first point and take a look at the LXCC stuff you told. Any hints on where to start ow where to find the right modules are very welcome :-)
So long
Joerg

Not sure what you mean here, our openSUSE LXDE packages are maintained in X11:lxde, there is also X11:lxde:Test for more experimental stuff.
A major upcoming issue would be to integrate the lightdm login manager into openSUSE, however this requires that the upstream author implements proper support for login/logout scripts first.
An annoyance which I haven't had time to look into are the current default filetype associations, e.g. currently text files are opened with Abiword rather than beaver, most images types are opened with mtpaint rather than gpicview etc. This might be influenced by /etc/gnome_defaults.conf (at least that is what GNOME does). This is a bite-sized task ideal for getting started ;) so you might add this to the above whishlist.
