[opensuse-kernel] Bug in iwlagn driver for IW5300 in kernel 2.6.33
The iwlagn driver in kernel 2.6.33 used in 11.3 M4 is affected by a bug that results in network disruptions caused by a timeout in a firmware watchdog. This is reported in the kernel bugzilla (https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15374) where patches are posted. The changes do not eliminate the firmware errors, but the fixup is a lot less disruptive to the network connection. This bug is reported in https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=592399. The above patches are already in kernel 2.6.34. Larry -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+help@opensuse.org

M5 will be based on 2.6.34-rcX, so this will have already been addressed. - -Jeff - -- Jeff Mahoney SUSE Labs -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.14 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with SUSE - http://enigmail.mozdev.org/ iEYEARECAAYFAkuyoywACgkQLPWxlyuTD7I4rwCeI+3v0ZavXT/lq7Cpffw7y0NO iScAnRbMgYkhcWTCCnK48uPKax3j1f25 =LduG -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+help@opensuse.org

I thought that was the case, but I was not sure. Will 2.6.33 be removed from Factory? Larry -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+help@opensuse.org

Yes. Factory will drop 2.6.33 when kernel-* is updated. - -Jeff - -- Jeff Mahoney SUSE Labs -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.14 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with SUSE - http://enigmail.mozdev.org/ iEYEARECAAYFAkuy0/QACgkQLPWxlyuTD7KgTACfWIaTk2GOLoVtQF804WOPrQKH P+EAnivSxjlcO0dpROs76GormuP14luN =7Frf -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+help@opensuse.org

As an aside, I've forked 2.6.33 around the 11th from kernel-head in BS, applied 2.6.33.1 yesterday (didn't used this kernel before), had major hassles to get nvidia going, and then it failed miserably: * on my desktop it lost the keyboard (on text consoles and in X) three times without any notes in syslog * on a server with 12 GiB (pae/i586) the oom killer went mad two times: once in the night, when a rsync based backup chimed in, and once from a simple du -sh of a 152 GiB folder.. Two killer issues were enough, I went back to 2.6.27.45 two hours ago remorsefully.. (I've outlined the reasons for keeping 11.1 before). Unfortunately, it _has_ all the nice features I was after like improved kvm, IOMMU for i586, an improved cx88 driver and generally feeled snappier. Any advice, which kernel project I may link too, that's going to stabilize soon?
