[opensuse-kernel] status of kernel-xen in Kernel:stable?
I note that as of today, 'kernel-xen' is no longer included in builds @ https://build.opensuse.org/project/show/Kernel:stable Is its removal an oversight, or planned? IIRC, there were plans for the migration to kernel-pv (also missing, atm) -- and, eventually, to a single, consolidated, pv-ready kernel. Has that occurrred, perhaps? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+owner@opensuse.org

This appears to be the case. Found this, XEN: Use the PVOPS kernel (fate#315712) http://kernel.opensuse.org/cgit/kernel-source/commit/?id=c9b372d7a089f9522fc... Don't know yet where the separate reference branch is, and if there'll be pkgs associated with it. Currently, with a separate kernel-xen, grub2 creates separate configs for kernel-default & kernel-xen. And, in the case of EFI hardware, also creates xen-specific EFI binaries to chainload. With the move to a single, 'integrated' kernel flavor, what changes are necessary in grub2's config prep to continue to be able to boot Xen -- but based on this new flavor? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+owner@opensuse.org

The separate branch is stable-xen (on the page you are referencing it is listed under Branches:Other). There will be a kernel-xen package from that branch.

The plan is that it "just works". In case you find problems, please report them. Juergen -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+owner@opensuse.org

Kernel:stable-xen is missing in the OBS for some reason. I'll have a look into that. Michal -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+owner@opensuse.org

Will kernel-source-xen submit to Factory? OTOH latest kernel-source changes was submitted by auto-submit[1] and now it's in staging project[2], however xen is build failed on x86_64, I assume xen's specfile is need to align with this change, is it? No. We want to test as many scenarios as possible with pvops Xen. The stable-xen branch is meant as a reference only and is temporary.

Yes, xen.spec needs to stop building the KMP. Olaf, will you submit the fix? Thanks, Michal -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+owner@opensuse.org

Olaf is on vacation this week. I've pinged Charles to do the change. Juergen -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+owner@opensuse.org

Thanks. The upgrade, on a working Xen server previously using kernel-xen/latest, has killed my ability to boot to Xen: non-Xen's fine, Xen's the problem: https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=956182 TBH, not yet sure if it's a kernel, xen, etc problem ... -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+owner@opensuse.org
