[opensuse-kernel] current kernel for FACTORY?
Hi, I hope I'm not too offtopic here ;) What's the chance that we will get an uptodate kernel for FACTORY a bit more often (say, once a week)? I still have this: strolchi:~ # rpm -qi kernel-default Name : kernel-default Relocations: (not relocatable) Version : 2.6.32 Vendor: openSUSE Release : 1.1 Build Date: Wed Nov 4 16:12:55 2009 Install Date: Mon Nov 9 17:43:05 2009 Build Host: build17 Group : System/Kernel Source RPM: kernel-default-2.6.32-1.1.nosrc.rpm Size : 100482670 License: GPL v2 only Signature : RSA/8, Wed Nov 4 17:00:43 2009, Key ID b88b2fd43dbdc284 Packager : http://bugs.opensuse.org URL : http://www.kernel.org/ Summary : The Standard Kernel Description : Which smells pretty bad already (and in fact has lots of problems, I have not had a kernel crash that often on me since at least half a year ago and back then, it was KMS that was bad. Anyway, this kernel is so ancient, that I do not even dare to report bugs against ist anymore). I know there's 2.6.32-1.4 in the repo, but as that's only a rebuild, I doubt it will fix things up. Or is the common wisdom to use the KOTD nowadays? Is it stable? Can I build my KMPs against it in the buildservice? Does it work with zypper to keep the FACTORY and the KOTD kernel, so that you have always two to choose from? Thanks, seife -- Stefan Seyfried "Any ideas, John?" Right now we have a gcc in factory that segfaults when compiling the kernel (bnc#558005). And we have a kernel in git that doesn't compile on ppc even with a fixed gcc. On x86(_64), you can test the kotd, I'll submit a kernel to factory once the ppc build failure is fixed (but when it show up in the repository depends on a working gcc). Sure. We've been working through some infrastructure issues (gcc segfaulting, etc) that have delayed Factory updates.
I still have this:

Not if you use the ftp.suse.com link, but each commit updates the Kernel:HEAD project, which can be used as a proper zypper repo and OBS build target. - -Jeff - -- Jeff Mahoney SUSE Labs -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.12 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with SUSE - http://enigmail.mozdev.org/ iEYEARECAAYFAksNiZ8ACgkQLPWxlyuTD7KerACeKe/1gr1UzGRFGIxhUKEMz0gb dFYAoKTiFnOa5D0b5V12Kz9L6d0DFmDj =2NI6 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+help@opensuse.org
