[opensuse-kernel] xc4000 patch
Hi, I tested recently with folks on forum.suse.pl a patch[1] for some dvb-t tuner, which is available at http://istvanv.users.sourceforge.net/v4l/xc4000.html I made kernel[2] with it and users reported it works fine (with addition firmware, of course). And now I have a question, is there a way to push it upstream while I'm not an author of this patch? Yes, follow the rules described in Documentation/SubmittingPatches in the kernel source tree and proper attribute the original author of the patch. thanks, greg k-h -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+help@opensuse.org

You should really reach out to the author first. In fact it looks like he is sumitting patches to upstream: http://linuxtv.org/pipermail/linux-dvb/2011-March/032821.html Perhaps you could build a version of the openSUSE kernel with those patches applied and see if everything still works for you. Cheers,
Brandon kernel-desktop with this patch was built yesterday and it's available for openSUSE 11.4 in my home repo @ http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/Fisiu:/xc4000/openSUSE_11.4/
I don't have a dvb-t card to test it myself but some guy from forum.suse.pl confirmed that it works fine. -- Pozdrawiam / Best regards, Mariusz Fik openSUSE Community Member
