[opensuse-kernel] kernel 2.6.29.51 Perfmon and ck804xrom
After I installed the 2.6.29.51 kernel i had a perfomance slowdown of my system Quad 6600 The same slowdown as in all the 2.6.28.and 2.6.29.rc kernels compared to the stock-kernel opensuse 11.1 As i did with all the 29.rcX kernels: I moved the modules from /lib/modules/2.6.29-51-default/kernel/arch/x86/perfmon to a backup the same for ck804xrom.ko in /lib/modules/2.6.29-51-default/kernel/drivers/mtd/maps to a backup Now the system is running at fullspeed without delays in internet and responce in kde4.2.1 So what are those modules as the kernel keeps running when they are gone.? -- Robert Koendering Willemstad Curacao ck804xrom -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+help@opensuse.org

Does this slow down happen even with the latest 11.1 update? The 2.6.27.19 kernel has perfmon enabled as well. - -Jeff - -- Jeff Mahoney SUSE Labs -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.9 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with SUSE - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iEYEARECAAYFAknLlnEACgkQLPWxlyuTD7JV2ACeNVhWGIOqX5EmTMobWyeW+7RY K/QAnjFfxxxC87Hy7YW1g81sXf9FmxZ+ =ryJh -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+help@opensuse.org
Never used the the kernel provided by opensuse 11.1 due to webcam problems so used the 2.6.26.14 kernel with the gspa rpm After sleeing my 3 webcams and obtained a other one which used the uvcvideo.ko driver i starten using the kernels 2.6.29.rc2.xx.xx and on from that time i had to delete the pefrmon modules and ch804xrom.ko to get decend perfomance. /usr/src/linux-2.6.29-51-obj/x86_64/default/.config # # General setup # CONFIG_EXPERIMENTAL=y # # Hardware Performance Monitoring support # CONFIG_PERFMON=y i set both to N once and recompiled the kernel same result as deleting pefmon modules, even better cpu support -- Robert Koendering Willemstad Curacao 2009/3/26 Jeff Mahoney <jeffm@suse.com>:
