[opensuse-kernel] new kernel 2.6.25-rc5-git2-109.6 fails to mount filesystem!
Hi I have a OpenSuse 10.3 with kernel (Linux version 2.6.22.17-0.1-default). Now I have tried to install another (keeping the old one, not updating or patching) kernel version 2.6.25-rc5-git2-109.6 downloaded from the opensuse factory. Initially it asked me to update the following 1. rpm (4.4.2-182 updated version) 2. devicemapper (1.02.24-16 updated version) 3. lvm2 (2.02.33-12 updated version) 4. udev (119 updated version) After that the new kernel installed without error, with the following output: ********************************************************************** rpm -ivh kernel-default-2.6.25-109.6.i586.rpm Preparing... ########################################### [100%] 1:kernel-default ########################################### [100%] Setting up /lib/modules/2.6.25-rc5-git2-109.6-default Kernel image: /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.25-rc5-git2-109.6-default Initrd image: /boot/initrd-2.6.25-rc5-git2-109.6-default Root device: /dev/sda7 (mounted on / as ext3) Resume device: /dev/sda6 Kernel Modules: processor thermal scsi_mod libata ata_piix fan jbd mbcache ext3 edd ide-core piix sd_mod usbcore ohci-hcd uhci-hcd ehci-hcd ff-memless hid usbhid Features: block usb resume.userspace resume.kernel Bootsplash: SuSE (1024x768) 19381 blocks ************************************************************************* But now if I boot the new kernel from Grub it stops after a point and gives me the error /sbin/udevtrigger no such file found /sbin/udevsettle no such file found /dev/sda7 not found and it dumps me to a shell prompt. If I boot with the old kernel everything works fine. I am using a single SATA harddisk on my machine. How can I fix this? Thanks. Please update mkinitrd rpm, too.
