look, kernel-source isn't the only package with this problem: I just fixed it in git master: I renamed the vc tmpfile name to "*.changes.vctmp.*" and osc only excludes "*.changes.vctmp.*". This should fix the problem.

Marcus, while at it, what's the business of not ignoring *~ on ci _anymore_? Is that a meaningful pattern (other then backups) out in the wild, wild build west?

Hmm it should be ignored by default. Did you change/set the "exclude_glob" config option in your ~/.oscrc? Do you have a concrete example where "*~" files aren't ignored?
