What kernel version is this? This looks like a broken BIOS, have they tried to update it? And is this the 64 or 32bit kernel? Have they tried the other one from what they are using? thanks, greg k-h -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+help@opensuse.org

No, the above message doesn't imply that the BIOS is broken. All it says is that the ACPI BIOS has reserved the SMBus for its own use and the OS can't use it. This is totally OK. Depending on the kernel version they are running, I may be able to suggest a boot option they can try.
And is this the 64 or 32bit kernel? Have they tried the other one from what they are using?

Hello Mates, our Client has written back. He wrote: ----cut--- uname -a Linux linux-dyia 2.6.31.5-0.1-desktop #1 SMP PREEMPT 2009-10-26 15:49:03 +0100 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux Then he tried the 32-Bit Installation. He gets: data prog : 7: 2. 1 : 8: 0. 1 : 9: 19b0. 55 : a: 19c7. 15 0: 8bd7a. a b: 19bc. 5 1: 3. 7 c: 1a76. 15 2: 8bd00. a d: 1a73. 15 3: 7cb54. 4 e: 1a6a. 15 --------------------------------------------- err 11 ip 1a5f: 8c.7 /boot/i386/loader dann kommt ein Fenster wo ich boot / linux etc. eingeben kann . Der Befehl linux , und die Installation startet . But then he gets the same Error (ACPI Error) After trying "Failsave" the System hangs in: [6.845292] usbcore: registered new interface driver uvcvideo [6.845390] USV Video Class driver (v0.1.0) [6.918014] b43-pci-bridge 0000Ö03Ö00.0: PCI INT A -> Link[LNKB] -> GSI 11 (level, low) -> IRQ 11 He has set in the BIOS the default Preferences. openSUSE 11.1 can be installed perfectly. He tried the installation of Ubuntu 9.10, and this works too.
