[opensuse-kernel] -desktop RC7, clock weirded
Hi: After installing the RC7 -desktop kernel and after the second reboot my workstation is doing weird things with the clock. What happended: - Reboot - (Beep, beep, beep) * 10 !! - Something that I was unable to read was printed on screen. - Then BIOS said "You system time is misconfigured, press F2 to enter bios setup) Any hints ? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+owner@opensuse.org

There is some "kernel crashes and writes its last state into the CMOS clock" mechanism for debugging. I thought it was used during suspend only and needs to be enabled explicitly, but I might be wrong. hope this helps, Stefan (Background is that suspend crashes are hard to debug and that CMOS clock memory is a place which is available on all x86 machines and which survives a reboot, so if you, during suspend and resume, record your progress in cmos clock registers, then you can determined where the failure point was at next boot). -- Stefan Seyfried "Dispatch war rocket Ajax to bring back his body!" -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+owner@opensuse.org
