Who is going to maintain these files after they get applied? I don't have time for daily kernel config updates...
I thought Michal had the script, allowing doing daily updates automatic.
Well, I'm semi-automatically maintaining the 'vanilla' and 'linux-next' branches that track mainline and linux-next, respectively. These branches merge any changes in the vanilla configs in the 'master' branch. However, in the master branch, the new configs need to be maintained by somebody knowledgeable about ARM.
How do you handle new options? Do they all become =m and someone needs to change them to =y where needed?
For the ARM configs, since the resources are pretty limited and people tend to prefer trimmed down configs, I usually just disable all of the ARM flavors when I do an update to -rc1 and wait for the ARM maintainers to submit a patch. There's obviously some lag introduced there, but it more or less works. If there's interest from the ARM folks, I can reverse that and integrate changes in the same way I do with the other architectures and then accept fixup changes afterward.
Also, might this impact publishing of existing flavors in Kernel:HEAD?
Don't understand how
Yeah, this is not a problem.
Did you actually try building this new flavor along the previous ones? In the past we had issues with armv7l default and lpae flavors not finishing to build in time for the next daily Kernel:HEAD update. If not all flavors in a repo finish building, none of them gets published.
In Matwey's patch it looked as if only the vanilla config was active. For Kernel:linux-next that should not be an issue, as only the vanilla flavor would be active iiuc, but for Kernel:HEAD it seems like a risk.
I'll add it and we'll see what falls out. - -Jeff - -- Jeff Mahoney SUSE Labs -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG/MacGPG2 v2.0.22 (Darwin) iQIcBAEBAgAGBQJUouafAAoJEB57S2MheeWyosYP/R1uZTNfZ7IhyUiiKjc3T//v h+qr2UEFE5UGu66pect2pv5bdPYKuWkxT+Z3OpT2Krdv0Fq5NZE8777azMO7EXgk 5iM2Y0qfQqpdEXu91W6gLQ0Va50eP6F0bfLE4RpG3Vj9aB3AdUmYTbtdDlLG5GA5 RvLwdeiMolMqtNajTnhCszSarYgfglGacNHyG5nL+9F1+ddSyORCpqk+otBLhWEA +SkZNlBSj4M7UZSqEZ0K1TgRKe11krszJWQW/Htmlp7oURvkVk1MtDqRbX+GTvwX ubPmSVFTe13ZIQF/jqgunWhb9uHvdobLfxXWVtmEGRjneyXWUYefptN3PWXKbzuB +kp5r9mMkt09i4kErGicnvC7E3Bd03CnCvBxs5tlHNosLsdBaTgRXvM3F49HC/ol sSji+bgP9H+QJpCjH658Tn6R/PLmmoODi7wfH6jtEoEZeWENPvqHHB8WSFM0pCiu 2y5tNHot3lglY5OGJCq/0lYv6/lpxd35vEmrBNsMafe+ehy6zwkd9r+D2B9ox3zl qcMRwTiYeFFLmBUVuUXRJPbvof2QXlz/JsiShHAs6oj0c19Nsn6nqjSjbFRMxOV0 dERNJqxOLFxONnd+LF6FK/KfM6RRzkwiF7xu2yd1mhQq8dhn07c4kVfwYq7pV07S VduwHqNYJqEGGasfO2p8 =KzJD -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+owner@opensuse.org
