At the end of the replacement process I got the following message:
Some kernel modules could not be included:
sd_mod unix atkbd i8042 ext4 swap autofs4 ipv6
Why have these modules been excluded and what is the effect of them not being included?
There are built into the -desktop kernel, so they are no external kernel moules for it.
dracut tries to add them as modules, but fails as they are not there.
There is nothing to worry about, the message is pretty much expected.
But why are those messages shown? I guess there exists a possibility to find out whether those modules are built in or not, right?
Not directly. There could be some form of whitelist where the warning is not shown or so.
At least not so experienced users might be quite irritated after doing `zypper up'.
