The iwlwifi driver on openSUSE 13.1 causes severe issues with dual band intel AC 7260 wifi cards with integrated bluetooth. This is getting an inevitable hw component of many recent subnotebooks.
I experience frequent and random drops of connection as well as loss of signal strength whenever I enable and use bluetooth together with wifi both running in the 2.4GHz band. If I disable bluetooth in the BIOS setup or use 5GHz wifi then the connection seems stable. (Many kind-of similar issue are reported by other users of linux+AC7260 on the net.)
http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/iwlwifi directs users with iwlwifi driver issues to the vanilla kernel's bugzilla at http://bugzilla.kernel.org/. Unfortunately however, support/info on that list was limited to the statement that openSUSE's 13.1 kernel (uname -r 3.11.10-11-desktop for me) is '..very old..' and should be updated https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=78271#c1
Is there any hope that openSUSE 13.1, within its life cycle, will see kernel/driver/firmware updates such as to support Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 cards properly?
You can just try the kernel packages (both kernel-$FLAVOR and kernel-firmware packages) in OBS Kernel:stable. Takashi -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+owner@opensuse.org
