yes it worked in earlier versions of opensuse, for Leap 15.1, and Tumbleweed for last year November.

Do you still have the old working kernel? It's too old, so it's no longer in the TW history repo.

Or, maybe you can try to install Leap 15.1 kernel onto your TW system. (You can install manually via zypper install --oldpackage option). At least, we need to compare with the working state.
