I noticed that tw in the virtual machine determines the capacity of the card, but does not see its contents. I even formatted it, but without result. [ 1277.301982] sd 4:0:0:0: [sdc] 61849600 512-byte logical blocks: (31.7 GB/29.5 GiB)

The capacity is determined by a READ_CAPACITY command, which presumably works. The failures you are seeing are failures of the READ_10 command. This does not look like random errors. It is unclear why the do not result in the SCSI error handler kicking in.
