The simple text protocol seems working well when SB is disabled. It's strange that MokManager couldn't draw the screen correctly when SB is enabled.
Not sure if it is the same problem, but I cannot even load MokManager standalone without shim. I.e. if I select "Boot from file" in EFI menu on QEMU OVMF and chose MokManager I just get black screen. This is Leap 15.2 with latest patches.
What's your OVMF version? I tried to load MokManager with 15.2 OVMF, and it worked as expected. It'd be great if we can find a reliable way to reproduce the black screen with VM.
It is possible that MokManager crashes with shim protocol?
MokManager doesn't use shim protocol. All it does is to read/write UEFI variables. Oh, wait, MokManager uses the shim protocol to calculate the hash of a given UEFI image, but it only happens when the user chooses "Enroll hash from disk".
